CHANDIGARH, 9 July : Religion teaches us love and service to humanity and there cannot be a better service than saving someone’s life. This was the key message delivered at the Organ and Blood Donation camp organized alongside the two day Samagam of Brahmrishi Shri Kumar Swami Ji that concluded here at Mela Ground, Sector 5, Panchkula today.
Leveraging the huge turn-out at the Samagam from different parts of the nation, Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) PGIMER in collaboration with Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust organized the camp which witnessed an enthusiastic response with 162 people donating blood and 59 pledging organ donation at the camp.
Simmi B Sumbria and Nilakshi Sharma, Transplant Coordinators at ROTTO PGIMER informed the public about the noble cause of organ donation and addressed their myths and misconceptions about the cause.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Vipin Koushal, Nodal Officer, ROTTO PGIMER highlighted that religion having a great influence on people’s thinking, awareness sessions like this one organized and supported by religious gurus can assist in motivating the communities to come forward and join the noble cause of blood and organ.” Reiterating the same sentiment, Mr Rakesh Sangar, President, Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust said,“Through these camps, we want to build awareness and a positive attitude towards this noble and healthy practice of blood and organ donation.” He expressed his happiness at the positive response at the camp.
