Arjuna Awardee Alok Kumar gave away the prizes to the winners
SAS Nagar : Mohali Sports & Welfare Society Regd. organized 2nd Lining Masters Badminton Tournament in Sector 71 sports stadium. The tournament was of four age group categories – 25-35, 35+, 40+ and 45+. Kuldeep Singh and Neeraj Kaura won the top place in 45+ while the duo of Garry and Simar won both 25-35 group and 35+ group. Dr. Rahul and Upen won the first place in 40+ age group.
Chief Guest Alok Kumar, Arjuna Awardee and former International Champion Snookers and Billiards, gave away prizes to the wiinners. All the participants were given mementos and the player who reached quarter finals and above were rewarded with handsome prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kumar said that now days, parents and athletes have started taking interest in sports and the recently concluded Olympics have also boosted the athletes. He said that there would be plenty of medals for India in Olympics if proper infrastructure and latest facilities be provided to the players in all fields of sports.
Kuldeep Singh, president of the society welcomed the chief Guest Alok Kumar and guest of honour Prabhdeep Kaur, National Champion Javelin throw (under 20 junior women 2015),Capt. Mohinder Singh sporst officer GMADA. Deepak Kumar of Lining, Sponsor Amarmeet Benipal and Sarvjit Singh, and all the players taking part in the tournament and congratulated the winners. Atul Sharma Gen. Secy., while thanking the dignitaries, shared the efforts being done by the society to promote badminton and other sports activities in Mohali.
