PATIALA, September 13: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today congratulated the party legislators for making the Akali-BJP run away from discussion and rush for the cover.
“For the first time in history the opposition has made the government to walk out of the house”, Capt Amarinder remarked while supporting and justifying the sit in protest by the legislators.
“You may be able to run away from the Vidhan Sabha, how long can you run away from the people and we are going to drag you to people’s court”, he told the Chief Minister, while disclosing that from the Vidhan Sabha the protests will now move out all over the state and the final battle will be fought by the ballot.
The PCC president also lashed out at the Chief Minister for trying to shed crocodile tears by coming to meet the protesting legislators and asking them to lift the dharna today, when he should have intervened and facilitated the discussion yesterday only.
“This is too little and too late and Mr Badal is trying to shed crocodile tears in his characteristic manner”, he said, while adding, had he really been sincere he, as the leader of the house, should not have allowed this situation to emerge at the first instance.
“The fight has just started and we will take it to the logical conclusion”, Capt Amarinder announced, while disclosing that the protests will move out of the Vidhan Sabha and reach every nook and corner of the state.
He pointed out, the Congress workers had already launched a massive offensive against the government all over the state as protest demonstrations were held at every district and block level where effigies of the government were burnt.
