SAS Nagar, october 23 : A delegation of Nursing Institutes Association Punjab today met Education Minister Punjab Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema (Gen. Secy. and Spokesman SAD) under the President ship of Charanjit Singh Walia and handed over a memorandum to the Education minister demanding stern action against the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University, Dr. Raj Bahadur for his derogatory remarks against the Nursing colleges and the students of nursing colleges.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Raj Bahadur, while speaking during counseling of students in Faridkot had said that the nursing colleges in Punjab are shops being run by ministers and leaders of Punjab while he termed the students of these colleges as garbage. The delegation also handed over audio clipping of Dr. Raj Bahadur to the minister.
Walia, while talking to Dr. Cheema said that Nursing colleges of Punjab are providing quality education to the students who are placed in top hospitals in India and abroad but on the other hand Dr. Raj Bahadur has defamed the institutes and also the students. He said that while the Punjab and Indian Govt. and Punjab Govt. are taking strong measures for higher education of the girl student and promoting colleges for quality education. Even Prime Minister of India has give a slogan of ”Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, such derogatory remarks of the VC has spread vide spread rage in the students and colleges. He demanded immediate action of dismissing the VC from the post
Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema listened to the demands assured the delegation that this is a serious issue and he would talk to the VC and question him regarding derogatory remarks against the ministers, nursing colleges and students. He said that he would also bring the notice to the Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and the Deputy Chief Minister Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal regarding the matter.
OSD to Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, Charanjit Singh Brar who was also present, assured the delegation that he would arrange a meeting of the Deputy CM and the delegation of the association on this matter.
