Chief Minister Sh ML Khattar inaugurated the ten day photo exhibition

Chandigarh, August 19, (Kuldeep Singh) The guild of Chandigarh and tricity photojournalists under the banner of ‘The Photo Journalists Welfare Association’ today marked the World Photography Day with the inauguration of their ten-day long Photo Exhibition. Being organised in association with North Zone Culture Centre, Patiala under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Govt of India at NZCC , Kalagram, Manimajra  the exhibition was inaugurated by Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, Honourable Chief Minister of Haryana. Mr. NK Sharma, Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Govt of Punjab also grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.  The exhibition is portraying the photographic skills of over 53 photojournalists working in various publications of Chandigarh and tricity with their over 90 frames. These frames depicting the various phases of lives including festivities, flora and fauna, sporting arena, human miseries, weather and various other elements.

Chief Minister Sh Khattar commenting on the occasion said, “I salute the dare of these photojournalists who sacrifice their luxury and comfort and display their best for a single shot so that our society gets the true pictures next moment. I appreciate the efforts of PJWA for this initiative and wish such more programs will be undertaken by them.” Chief Minister announced a sum of Rs two lakhs towards the association while Sh NK Sharma expressed his joy over this exhibition and announced Rs One lakh for their endeavour.

Chief Minister Mr. Khattar also feliciated those sponsers including Megha Sandhu of Fortis Hospital, Mohali, Gurmukh Walia of  Jap Studies Abroad, Rajnish Colour Lab and JP Singh of Veerji Graphics who contributed to make this event a succesful.

According to Mr. Vicky Gharu, Acting President, The Photo Journalists Welfare Association, “ This initiative was taken in order to show our work to public through such exhibitions. We are aspiring for sure more exhibitions and events in near future. We wish visitors to join us for next ten days and appreciate our work.
