Chandigarh, October 1 : The ceremonial events included a War Memorial Service wherein homage was paid to martyrs and unveiling of the bust of Honorary Captain Sripati Singh, Vir Chakra (Retired), a 1971 War Veteran marked 75th Raising Day (Platinum Jubilee) of 26 Air Defence Regiment with befitting ceremonial fervor today. The Director General and Senior Colonel Commandant addressed the Air Defence Gunners during the Special Sainik Sammelan and released the First Day Cover.
The Regiment was raised on this very day in 1941 and has had an illustrious history. The unit was raised as 2nd Indian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. The glorious history of the Regimentis spread over seven decades as an absolute saga of courage, selflessness and sacrifice.
The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Army’s oldest Air Defence Regiment was spread over three days. A variety of activities were conducted with large number of Veer Naris, War Veterans, Retired and Serving Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks gracing the land mark event.
The Regiment on this momentous occasion pledged to strive with zeal and enthusiasm to keep the flag of Army Air Defence flying high.
