Sprinter Dutee wins women’s 100m, again misses the qualification mark by mere fraction of second

Patiala, May 7, (Bureau) The Olympic qualification again slipped from Chand’s hand at the NS NIS Patiala stadium this evening. Dutee, who created the a New National Record in the women’s 100 metres sprint, clocking 11.33sec in the recently concluded Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships in Delhi again missed the Rio qualification mark . Though, she couldn’t repeat her Delhi performance, as she clocked 11.37s to win the women’s 100m sprint event at the 2nd Indian Grand prix, Patiala.““ “Jyothi H M finishes second clocking 11.57s and Fed Cup 200m winner Srabani Nanda clocked 11.60s for the third position. In Men’s 1500m event, Ajay Kumar Saroj clocked 3:46:73 to finish on the top of the podium.“ “In men’s 100m event, Md. Abdul Najeeb clocked 10.574s to cross the finish line for the first position followed by Krishna Kumar from Maharashtra and Jyotisankar Debnathwho finished second and third in 10.579s and 10.62 respectively.“ “Quarter-miler Sumit Kumar finished first in men’s 400m event with a timing of 47.41s. whereas in women’s event, Asian Games bronze medallists, M.R. Poovamma finished first with 52.67s while Anilda Thomas clocked 53.10s to finish second and Santhosh Kumari finishined third with 54.06s.“ “In women’s Javelin throw, the National record holder Annu Rani won the gold medal with a throw of 56.77m, Suman Devi just slightly behind Annu, finished second by throwing his javelin to 56.61m. Shivpal Singh from Airforce win the men’s javelin throw title with throwing his javelin to whooping 79.77m while Samarjeet Singh managed on second position and Davinder Singh third position with a throw of 73.28m & 72.30m respectively.“ “In the women’s discus thrower, 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Krishna Poonia, take the top honour with a throw of 56.02m whereas Navjeet Kaur Dhillon, who won the bronze medal at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships managed the second position with her best effort of 54.03m
