S.A.S. Nagar, 9 April : Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, today celebrated its 38th Founders Day with great splendour and enthusiasm. The Celebrations started with the Academic Procession. This was followed by the School appointments presenting the Academic, Sports, Co-curricular and Community Centre reports of the school.

The Chief Guest at the occasion was Mr. Shashank Vira. Mr. Vira is an eminent educationist and an entrepreneur, with 25 years of experience in academics, education policy & management, commercial business operations and infrastructure financing. Speaking on the occasion Shashank Vira, spoke extensively on the importance of making the most of the present in order to prepare them for the changed world they will grow up in. He said that it is most important to seize the moment and give it one’s one hundred per cent so that there is no room for regret. Preparedness for a more competitive and tougher world, honing one’s capabilities, creating a conducive and concrete platform for growth is the need of the hour.

Mr. R P Devgan, Headmaster, Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, said that it was his belief that a school is not simply a building or an institution, but one that has a character and an individuality of its own which is largely created by the ideology, good practices and the experience of its team of educators and support staff. He expressed that the world needs not only well-educated and intelligent people, but also people who are considerate and compassionate. I would love to see our students become moral and intellectual leaders, people of dignity, honesty and compassion who make a positive difference to the world. We need to guide students to be independent in their thinking and be strong enough to stand by what they know is right.


Excellence in Academics Awards to students scoring above 90 per cent and All-Round Students Trophies were also given away by the Chief Guest. Sports Colours were given to the students excelling in different sports. Sports Trophies were awarded to the Houses that had competed and excelled in the Inter-School Athletic Meet.

A variety entertainment music and dance programme titled ‘Melody of Dance & Music’ was presented by the students. Children participating in the Indian Music Orchestra performed with instruments like harmonium, banjo, taanpura, tabla and the xylophone. An equally reverberating Western Music Orchestra was presented by the talented students of the school. An Indian and Western Dance Medley comprising of Kathak, Bhangra, and Hip Hop performances were staged by the students of the Junior and Senior School.
